These are the Birkenstock Medina Flip Flops (Tobacco Brown Leather). I couldn’t find this genuine leather thong model here in California, so I ordered from an Amazon seller in the UK. They arrived in great condition, in about a week. My sister wears the Gizeh model, and I thought about ordering them (since they are sold as “unisex” on the Birkenstock website), but I felt like the thicker straps on the Medina model looked more masculine. I will probably order the Ramses thong model next (it’s also very hard to find here on the West Coast). Sizing can be a bit confusing, so here’s how I determined my perfect size before ordering: You should order one full size down, from your EU shoe size, and 1 1/2 a size down from your US shoe size. For example, I wear a size 9 D (M) Nike running shoe (US), and a size 42 Ecco dress shoe (EU). So I ordered a size 41 (EU) / 7.5 (US) regular width Birkenstock. As you can see from my photo, there’s a slight space between the toes and the heel edge of the shoe, so they fit perfectly (with no slippage, etc.). Birkenstock also offers a printable foot sizing template, on their website (it’s also provided on the inside flap of the box they arrive in). Just measure your foot according to their sizing conventions, and order that numerical size for any shoes in their inventory. Order the next size up, if your foot falls between two numerical sizes.
